Artist Biography

Patricia Burleson received a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art in 1976 with a concentration in fibers. She previously studied at the University of Texas, Radcliff Seminars and Rhode Island School of Design and continues to attend professional workshops.
After graduating, Patricia began painting on silk and selling one-of-a-kind clothing to galleries including Neiman Marcus, NY and Berenaka Gallery, Miami. She added scarves and banners to her clothing and exhibited in trade shows including: ACC Craft fair (Dallas TX), Guilford Handcraft Exposition (Guilford, CT) and League of New Hampshire Craftsmen (Sunapee NH).
Currently, her scarves are sold at BNOX Gold &Iron, Pepin, WI and Wesleyan Potters, Middletown, CT. Patricia also participates in holiday shows at the De Cordova Museum, MA, Brookfield Craft Center, CT and local VT and MA venues.
Ms Burleson has been commissioned to make wedding dresses, fabrics for a dress designer, caftans, dance costumes, folding screens, chuppah, and large banners for theater and corporate offices. She has been a technical advisor for Adirondack Scenic Design, Glen Falls, NY for several banner projects for Ringling Brothers Circus.
Through the years Patricia has taught dye painting workshops in her studio and in national venues.
Patricia Burleson lives with her family in a small town in southern Vermont where she maintains a studio surrounded by woods and gardens.
